The Big Sur Marathon

Brian Long, a scout in our troop, fills a pitcher of water at the water table.Today, in boy scouts, we volunteered at the Big Sur International Marathon, at the finish line. We got key lime green colored shirts, which really stood out and helped runners identify us. I had to get up about 5 AM to help set up the station, and we worked until about noon. My stepdad Brian ended up actually running the marathon, despite a hurt shoulder.

I worked at the water and Gatorade tables and filled cups for finishing runners. The Gatorade was really sticky and spilled everywhere, so it was a very messy job.

The BSIM provided a really good lunch for volunteers, with pesto noodles, tortellini, grilled asparagus, and for some people: tri-tip sandwiches.

Matthew helps set up water cups.
Oliver enjoys pesto noodles for lunch. Sticky sticky Gatorade.

Not to mention, some people (emhemmatthew) liked to spill the water and Gatorade all over other people just for fun, which wasted the water. =(
